If you’re like most homebuyers, you know that you have every right to hold out for your dream house - but what if you’re being “too picky”?

Here’s what you need to know.

Are You Too Picky When it Comes to Finding a Home?

The bottom line is that there’s no “perfect” house. If you’re too focused on minor details - especially details you can change if you buy the home - you might pass up an amazing house to keep looking.

You definitely shouldn’t settle for a house that won’t make you happy, but you do need to keep in mind that many of a home’s flaws are fixable. In some cases, you can even ask the seller to fix the things you don’t like when you make an offer.

Here’s how to tell if you’re being too picky. If you notice any of these signs, take a step back and make sure you’re really just trying to get a great home - not that you’re trying to get the perfect home all in one shot:

  • You know what you want, but you’re completely unwilling to compromise

  • You believe in home improvement shows (the reality is that those “perfect homes” have undergone massively expensive renovations)

  • Your friends, family and even real estate agent are starting to get frustrated with you
