When you’re selling a home in Lakewood or Long Beach, your Realtor(R) might advise you to hire a professional home stager. A home stager can make a huge difference in how quickly you sell your home - and even how much you sell it for.
Your agent will be able to recommend a local professional to you, or you can work with someone you know… but before you hire anyone, ask these three important questions.
Hiring a Professional Home Stager? Ask These 3 Questions First
When you’re interviewing potential home stagers, ask:
How quickly do homes sell after you’ve staged them?
What’s the normal listing price for homes you stage?
Is there anything I can do myself?
How Quickly Do Homes Sell After You’ve Staged Them?
You want to work with a home stager who has a proven track record of success, so look for someone whose average is around (or under) 30 days. While there’s no guarantee your home will sell that quickly - or that it’s solely because of the home stager - it’s important that you work with somebody who’s exceptionally good at staging.
What’s the Normal Listing Price for Homes You Stage?
Ideally, you’ll be able to hire a professional home stager who routinely stages homes in your price range. Don’t hire a stager who only does luxury homes, for example, if yours isn’t a luxury home. Home stagers know their demographics, so you want to work with someone who’s familiar with the people who will be interested in buying your home.
Is There Anything I Can Do Myself?
Ask each stager you interview if there’s anything you can tackle yourself. He or she may suggest that you start taking excess furniture to storage or start other projects that can save you money on staging costs.
